(December 6, 2012) – MPH Motorsports, LLC had one main idea centered around its creation of a new drag racing series, the X-treme Drag Racing League (XDRL), an eighth-mile sanctioning body that will debut in 2013.

“The driving force behind the X-DRL was to create a high-quality association that will bring plenty of excitement,” Jeff Mitchell said. There is certainly plenty of that, as a great deal of anticipation surrounds the X-DRL as it heads into its inaugural season in 2013.

MPH Motorsports, a group that includes Mitchell, David Hubbard and Larry Pearce, is determined to offer an exceptional product and a premier racing league that becomes a destination for fans, teams and sponsors. The trio is filled with racing passion and each has an impressive background that adds considerable credibility to the X-DRL. Mitchell, a 25-year entrepreneur in the petroleum industry, operates domestic and international business on drilling and service in the oil and gas industry, while all three are multi-year drag racers.Mitchell is also a former track operator, while Hubbard has more than 20 years of experience in drag racing, from competing in touring Super Gas and more. Collectively, the group plans to make a strong impression on the drag racing scene with the X-DRL.

“We all have a strong understanding of the sport and we’re all about the racing and putting on a spectacular show and we believe that’s what the X-DRL will provide,” Mitchell said.

The X-DRL will announce its 2013 schedule at 11 a.m. on Saturday during the International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. A minimum of eight races will be held with the possibility of 10 to take place.

With that will come stops at many of the nation’s most prestigious facilities, as well as an aggressive new marketing scheme that will lead to large, enthusiastic crowds taking in some of the most action-packed and best side-by-side drag racing in the sport.

“We’re forming a co-op with every track. With our business model, we are basically booking a show and the track will help promote it,” Mitchell said. “We believe this is the best way to build strong fanbases in every market.

“It’s important to form partnerships across the board, and that starts with the race tracks. We’re bringing in a fantastic show and they are going to help promote, creating a great buzz in anticipation of each event.”

The next partnership is already a flourishing one, as the X-DRL has worked around the clock to establish incredible relationships with drag racing sponsors. Heading into the IMIS show, Mitchell said the X-DRL already has more than 75 committed sponsors, including everything from an official X-DRL series sponsor to a lengthy list of class and contingency sponsors. It’s a group that includes the likes of Jerry Haas Race Cars, Sonny’s Racing Engines, Precision Turbo and Engine, Five-Star Bodies and many more.

“I would describe the response from sponsors regarding the X-DRL as extraordinary. It’s already exceeded our expectations and the phone continues to ring,” Mitchell said. “We will have an incredible amount of banner and contingency sponsors.

“We’ve had ringing endorsements from some cornerstone companies and that has just been remarkable.”

That impressive backing from sponsors and first-class facilities and has brought plenty of attention from top-notch race teams as well.

To add even more incentive to racers, the X-DRL has hired the Traction Twins and their state-of-the-art track equipment, along with several other standout employees in the drag racing world, including Keith Goolsby, Chris Bell, David Cook, Trevor Wilson and others.

“From those endorsements from sponsors has come a great response from their customers,” Mitchell said. “We’re going to run events professionally and with integrity, and every racer that we’ve heard from has been very positive. The enthusiasm from sponsors to track to teams is truly above and beyond what we expected, and that really has us excited.”

The X-DRL will offer competition and 1/8-mile racing in eight professional categories for the 2013 season. Those classes are:

  • Pro X-treme
  • Pro Nitrous
  • X-treme Pro Stock
  • Pro Turbo
  • X-treme Pro Mod
  • Top Dragster
  • Top Sportsman
  • Pro Junior Dragster
  • Supercar Showdown

The status of Pro Extreme Motorcycle is still undecided at the time of this release.

Impressive payouts from the X-DRL will also be revealed in the coming days, but Mitchell and the X-DRL have plenty of big news planned for Saturday’s press conference. Still, he promises the big news won’t stop there.

“We’re going to be rolling out details and announcements giving fans and race teams something to look forward to all winter,” Mitchell said. “We will offer strong payouts and there’s going to be a lot of exciting info. We’re going to do business the right way, and we believe the racing community is hungry for a product like what the X-DRL will present.”

I just wanted to drop a note and say how excited I am to here St Louis is on the X-DRL schedule. I have grown to love the wild side of the Extreme racing that I have seen over the past few years at the ADRL racing and hope and believe that X-DRL will bring even more excitement.

I can hardly wait for June 2013 to get here so I can bring my two sons to witness wild side by side action.

Again thank you for creating X-DRL and adding St Louis to your Schedule!
