With a pair of experienced and popular voices behind the microphone, the new X-treme Drag Racing League (X-DRL) announced its two-man announce team for its inaugural 2013 season on Tuesday. Longtime veteran announcer Brian Olson and seasoned drag racing guru Carl Robinson have been named as the announce team for the 2013 X-DRL season. The duo will serve as the voices of the X-DRL for its impressive online live broadcasts and for the live audience at each of the nine X-DRL races during its debut campaign.

The 2013 X-DRL season begins on April 6-7 with the X-DRL Spring Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park and includes nine stop at many of nation’s most prestigious tracks.

“We are thrilled to have Brian and Carl as our announcers for the 2013 season. In my opinion, you couldn’t have asked for a greater pair of voices to introduce the X-DRL to the world this year,” X-DRL Director of Operations Chris Bell said.

“Brian is one of the most recognizable voices in the sport, and the tremendous chemistry he has with Carl will simply add to the memorable experience our fans will have watching online or in person.”

A 40-year veteran in the sport and an announcer for the past 31 years, Olson has announced races in the NHRA, IHRA, ADRL and much more, and also served as a television analyst for the likes of SPEED, Fox Sports and MAV-TV.

Olson has worked in all facets of drag racing from Stock Eliminator to managing Top Fuel dragster teams, and his personal business, Olson Paint and Body Shop, entered its 29th year of service in 2013.

As an announcer, Olson’s fun-loving personality and excitable energy has made him a favorite with fans and drivers, and that enthusiasm will be evident with the X-DRL in 2013.

“I’m completely excited to be back on the announcing deck and working with the X-DRL. I announced my first extreme doorslammer race in 2009 and I truly feel l found my comfort zone in this world. The camaraderie with this group of racers is special and I’m super excited to be part of it again,” Olson said.

“This is an exciting brand new series with owners who want it to succeed for years to come and are doing things right. I’m tickled to be a part of it and to work with Carl, whom I’ve been friends with for the last 25 years.”

Robinson has been involved in the drag racing season since the late 1980s, including stops at Weld Racing Wheels and, since 2006, Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels, which is also the sponsor of the X-DRL Top Sportsman class. Robinson has been a regular guest in the announcer’s booth at various doorslammer events over the past several years, and he jumped at the opportunity to work with Olson and the X-DRL in 2013.

“I can hardly wait to get back to the track. I’m so ecstatic about this. I have to give kudos to Brian for making this possible. I’ve always had a tremendous desire to announce and he gave me the confidence and support to do it,” Robinson said.

“We feed off each other and that’s what makes it fun. That’s what teamwork is supposed to generate and I really think that will carry over to the audience at each race this season.”
