Hoerner to Race New Camaro in X-DRL 2013 Season

It took just one season for Todd Hoerner to become a championship contender in Pro Stock. The latest reward is a major, multi-year sponsorship with Texas-based Mesquite Logistics, USA.

The talented Hoerner, who will race in the X-DRL’s X-treme Pro Stock class in 2013, officially signed a three-year deal with Mesquite Logistics, a major deal for a driver who just entered the Pro Stock world a year ago.

Once again using an EFI set-up that helped Hoerner make Pro Stock history a year ago, Hoerner will also debut a new 2013 Camaro from Jerry Haas Race Cars. Haas will also work closely with Hoerner, the sales manager of Sonny’s Racing Engines, during the 2013 X-DRL season, which begins on April 6-7 with the X-DRL Spring Nationals.

Mesquite Logistics is a premium provider of workforce hospitality services and modular work camp accommodations for workers in remote locations and environments. An industry leader in its field, Mesquite Lodgings offer full-service accommodations, providing a hassle-free home-away-from-home atmosphere for every worker.

“We are so excited and thankful for this opportunity with Mesquite. They are incredible people to work with, and we have already have great working relationship together,” Hoerner said. “By having a multi-year agreement, it will allow us to have all the necessary tools we need to make a run at the X-treme Pro Stock championship, and running in the new X-DRL series is going to be a big thrill.

The X-DRL has put together a first-class organization, and I’m looking for great things from the series. I am also so fortunate to have Jeff Dobbins II back as crew chief again this year. He did great things for our team last year. I also want to thank Jeff Mitchell, Sonny Leonard, Jerry Haas and Kevin Bealko for making this possible. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of that new 2013 Camaro. I am also grateful for all the other sponsors that make this program all come together: Black Diamond, Jegs, K&N, Big Stuff3, Total Seal, PSI Springs, Pro Fabrication, Moroso and Ram Clutches. These companies are like family to us and we are very grateful.”

Hoerner certainly enters the 2013 campaign as a championship contender in X-treme Pro Stock. A year ago, Hoerner became the first driver in Pro Stock history to win a race using EFI, and he ended the year being named the ADRL Rookie of the Year.

After a successful sportsman career that spans victories in five different NHRA sportsman classes, including Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman, Hoerner made his Pro Stock debut last April in Bristol. He won a round – becoming the first Pro Stock driver to win a round with EFI – and steady improvements and impressive accomplishments continued to follow. Hoerner made 55 runs in 2012 without aborting a pass or pedaling, a tribute to his driving ability, as well as the calls made by his team on his EFI engine, which was built by Sonny’s Racing Engines.

To illustrate how happy he was with the EFI, Hoerner will run a new EFI engine from Sonny’s in 2013, as will a number of other X-treme Pro Stock drivers. Hoerner went as quick as 4.04 at 178 mph, and he credited his crew, which consists of Jeff Dobbins II, his wife, Nicole, and his daughter, Kassidy, along with the easy to maintain EFI engine.

“The EFI helps get that consistency and it repeats so well. I was the test dummy for EFI to start the year, but when people saw what you can run well with it, I think it was the decider for a lot of people to switch over,” Hoerner said.

“Jeff is just so thorough and that goes back to just wanting to win. He had a super good teacher in his dad, and he’s just as competitive as they come. He made all the right calls last year and I couldn’t have done any of it without him. I also have to thank Sonny because without him, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing.”
