Jeff Pierce Race Car Tuning has been involved in doorslammer racing for more than a decade, and Pierce likes what he sees from the new X-treme Drag Racing League (X-DRL).

The eighth-mile sanctioning body announced on Saturday that Jeff Pierce Race Car Tuning has signed on as an X-DRL contingency sponsor for the 2013 season, which begins April 6-7 with the X-DRL Spring Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. After spending time with X-DRL management and executives, Pierce was sold on the direction of the X-DRL in its debut season.

“It’s a really well-rounded group of individuals running the X-DRL and I’m thrilled to work with them in 2013. I have a lot of faith in the people running it and that’s the biggest thing for me,” Pierce said.

“Their business plan going forward is solid and it’s something that’s going to last for years and years. The spectators are really going to see a great show this year and beyond.”

Pierce and his business have worked with a number of top Pro Mod and Top Sportsman drivers over the years, including Pierce’s father, Dave, who has had a standout career. For the 2013 X-DRL season, Pierce’s client list includes Pro Mod drivers Jeff Cummins Jr. and Ron Muenks, and Top Sportsman competitors Bob Gulitti, Jerry Holt and more.

“There’s a really good group of racers competing with the X-DRL in 2013. I want my racers to be safe and I’m on board with what the X-DRL is doing,” Pierce said. “The people involved with the X-DRL want to see great racing, and there’s a lot of great classes.

“In Pro Mod, it’s such a great class as far as the way the rules are written for the 1/8-mile format. You can run any combination and be successful, and the Top Sportsman class just amazes me. It’s just an incredibly tough class.”

Pierce has been hard at work in the off-season developing new products for his clients, just recently finishing a pan for a bruno drive unit. Cummins will have the first one and Pierce is excited with the developments and benefits his product will offer.

“What makes ours unique is that it replaces the entire pan so there’s less likelihood for leakage. It has an external oil filter on it so the pan doesn’t have to split and also has baffles to help prevent fluid from becoming aerated,” Pierce said.

“It’s also 3.5 pounds lighter than the stock pan and holds four additional quarts of oil. With the kind of horsepower these cars are making, you’re heating up fluid more in the converter. With a larger pan, you have more oil in reserve. It should be a pretty neat deal.”

The 2013 X-DRL season will includes nine races at many of the top facilities in the nation. “It’s exciting to have Jeff Pierce Race Car Tuning on board with the X-DRL in 2013 and to know that Jeff believes in the product we will be offering to our fans,” X-DRL Account Executive Keith Goolsby said.
