It’s been just more than three months, but the new X-treme Drag Racing League has come a long way heading into its first-ever event, this weekend’s X-DRL Spring Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park.

Through a tremendous amount of work and impressive support already from sponsors, race teams and fans, giving the eighth-mile sanctioning body an incredible amount of momentum before its first race in the X-DRL’s inaugural season.

With that has come a flurry of significant announcements, including a television contract with Velocity, extensive free live online coverage, generous event and championship payouts and a host of sponsor agreements. Combined, it has the X-DRL tremendously excited for its first event in its debut campaign.

“The main idea behind the X-DRL was to create a high-quality association that will bring plenty of excitement and we’re thrilled with what we’ve been able to accomplish in a short time,” X-DRL Co-Owner Jeff Mitchell said.

“It’s only the first year for the X-DRL, but we’ve already been able to establish ourselves in the industry. We’ve done business the right way, and the support we’ve received from sponsors has been proof of that. We believe the racing community is hungry for a product like what the X-DRL will present in 2013.”

The first-year X-DRL will award strong payouts for each event and its championship points chase. The world champions in each class will also earn a number of significant prizes, while contingency payouts from X-DRL sponsors are approaching nearly $500,000 from more upwards of 30 X-DRL sponsors.

Along with the significant contingency support from sponsors, several top industry names, including Sonny’s Racing Engines, Mickey Thompson, Precision Turbo & Engines, Tim McAmis Race Cars, Jerry Haas Race Cars, Morrow Brothers Ford, Flying A Motorsports and more, have already established themselves as strong X-DRL supporters.
The X-DRL also has three class sponsorships (Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous, Precision Turbo & Engine Pro Turbo, Mickey Thompson Top Sportsman).

Combining the contingency total with the nearly $1.2 million the X-DRL will award in event and championship payouts, nearly $1.7 million will be up for grabs during the X-DRL’s debut season, making it the most lucrative 1/8-mile sanctioning body in the nation.

“To have gained this much support from sponsors really speaks volumes about what we’ve been able to do with the X-DRL in a short time and where we think it will be going,” X-DRL Account Executive Keith Goolsby said.
“We’re excited to have this kind of support from the biggest names in the industry, and we truly feel this is another way that racers will benefit during the 2013 season.”

Another way will be the nine-race schedule that begins this weekend in Tulsa and includes stops at incredible facilities like Bristol Dragway, Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Gateway Motorsports Park and zMAX Dragway.

With that comes generous multi-media support, giving race teams and drivers a strong platform to showcase their talents at each high-action X-DRL event. The X-DRL teamed up with J-Angel Productions and Motormania TV to provide free live online coverage of every event at X-DRL.com.

The X-DRL will be showcased in a live, high-quality stream that will capture every qualifying run and elimination matchup, and all of it will be free and accessible on phones, tablets and computers. Included in the X-DRL’s incredible live coverage is four cameras – one on the starting line, two at mid-track and the fourth elevated on scaffolding at the finish line.

The live broadcasts will also include extensive features, including instant replays, behind-the-scenes coverage and driver interviews to give fans an in-depth look at the X-DRL and the drivers that make each race a must-see event.

The online X-DRL broadcasts will also feature on-track sound and commentary from the X-DRL track announcer, live timing on the screen and a viewer-driven chat.

Additionally, the X-DRL previously announced a multi-year television agreement with Velocity by Discovery, an upscale male lifestyle national television network. The agreement calls for a series of programs on the popular high-definition network, giving the X-DRL a national television presence for its inaugural 2013 season.
Velocity, formerly known as HD Theater and Discovery HD Theater, is currently available in nearly 50 million homes.

“We’re going to run events professionally and with integrity, and every racer that we’ve heard from has been very positive,” Mitchell said. “The enthusiasm from sponsors to track to teams is truly above and beyond what we expected, and that really has us excited.

“We can’t wait to unveil the X-DRL this weekend in Tulsa and it’s going to be the start of a memorable season.”
