REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS

BODY

BODY/INTERIOR: Must be Street appearing, must have stock appearing dash and working lights.One Piece Fiberglass frontends permitted but must retain stock appearance and must have working lights. No Panel Cars.
Maximum frontend overhang of 45” as measured from centerline of front spindle.

TAIL LIGHT: Functional rear tail light is required. Minimum of 1 tail light is required.

 

CHASSIS

CHASSIS RULES: Back Half type cars only, Front Frame must be Original O.E.M. type and must extend a minimum of 4” forward of the front spindle. Stock like front frame rails mandatory. Direct Bolt-In aftermarket parts permitted. Factory front frame must be connected to K-Member or Lower Suspension components by welding or bolting.
Double round tube frame rails ftom firewall forward prohibited. If utilizing a 1990 or older FACTORY A-ARMS deduct 50lbs from minimum weight.

CHASSIS CERT: Must be SFI Spec. 25.1E, 25.2 or 25.3 with current NHRA certification tag prior to competition. Certification must be appropriate for weight and E.T.

DRIVER LOCATION: Must be in conventional left hand drive location.

GROUND CLEARANCE: Minimum of 3” required from front of car to 12” behind front axle centerline.

STEERING: Stock type steering in conventional location required.

SUSPENSION: Race car type suspension required. Solid suspension prohibited. Shock absorbers required for all four wheels.

TIRES: Maximum Tire Size 33” X 10.5” All tires must have manufacturer, model and or part number and size information must be clearly and permanently designated on sidewall.

WHEEL BASE: Must be within 2” of factory dimensions. Maximum frontend stagger 2”. Wheelbase will be measured from centerline of front spindle to centerline of rear axle. Any Vehicle not in conformance with wheelbase rules will have 100lbs added to minimum weight.

WHEELIE BARS: Allowed.

WHEELS: Maximum wheel width 16”.

DRIVELINE AND ENGINE

CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL: Flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec. 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5 certification required. Clutch SFI Spec. must match engine combination/power adder that is used.

DRIVELINE: A 360 degree loop ¼” minimum thickness and 2” wide, or 7/8”x.065” welded steel tubingsecurely mountedand located within 6 inches of the front U-Joint. Open driveline passing any part of the drivers body must be completely enclosed in 1/8”minimum thick steel plate, securely mounted to the frame or frame structure.

ENGINE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM: X-DRL accepted lower engine containment system(Diaper) required. Must be a minimum of 3” above ground.

ENGINE SETBACK/FIREWALL: Firewall must be within 2” of stock location.Firewall will be measured from centerline of the front spindle to the farthest point away on the firewall. Both sides will be measured and the average of the two sides will be the official measurement. Engine must remain infront of the firewall. Firewall cannot be modified for engine placement. Any entry not in conformance with the firewall rules that raced under the Cecil County Outlaw 10.5 rules (Cecil Co. or Shakedown) in 2012 or earlier will have 100lbs. added to the minimum weight. Any entries new for 2013 and later must conform to the firewall rules without exception and will not be offered the weight penalty.

EXHAUST: All entries must have Mufflers. Inserts are not considered mufflers. Turbocharged entries do not require mufflers. No Zoomies allowed.

HARMONIC BALANCER: SFI Spec. 18.1 certification required.

FLYWHEEL SHIELD(CLUTCH): SFI Spec. 6.1, 6.2 or 6.3 certification required. Flywheel Shield SFI Spec. must match engine combination/power adder that is used.

FLYWHEEL SHIELD/FLYWHEEL (CONVERTOR): SFI Spec. 30.1 certification flywheel shield required. SFI Spec 29.1 certification flex plate/flywheel required.

TRANSMISSION: All Automatic Transmissions and Aftermarket Planetary transmissions must run a SFI Spec. 4.1 Shield, Blanket, or Case.

FUEL: All fuels are to be unmodified fuel as produced by the manufacturer and must be comercially available. The use of nitromethane Prohibited, the use of any fuel additives to enhance performance Prohibited. All entries are subject to fuel check at any time.
Alcohol used in Non-Intercooled entries only (except 4cyl & 6cyl)

FUEL SYSTEM: Fuel cell must have pressure cap and be vented to outside of body. Fuel cell mounted in front of radiator or located outside of frame must be enclosed in a round tube frame, minimum 1 ¼” O.D. x .065” chrome-moly tubing or.118 mild steel tubing. All fuel tanks must be isolated from the drivers compartment by a firewall, completely sealed to prevent fuel from entering the drivers compartment.

SUPERCHARGER: Screw-type Supercharger: Must have current S.F.I 34.1 Certification.Must have manifold burst panel meeting SFI Spec 23.1 and restraint device meeting SFI Spec 14.21
Roots Supercharger: Must have restraint device meeting SFI Spec 14.1
Fuel and or Oil Lines must be shieldedwherever they pass the supercharger drive belt.
Aluminum Studs mandatory on Roots and Screw Superchargers for attachment to manifold.

C02/NITROUS BOTTLES: Air bottles on N/A, Supercharged and Turbocharged entries must be filled with C02 only. The use of Nitrous Oxide in place of C02 is Prohobited.
All pressurized bottles over 150psi must be DOT-1800 approved

MISCELLANEOUS

CREDENTIALS: A valid X-DRL membership, X-DRL, NHRA, or IHRA Competition License is required to compete. Valid NHRA or IHRA
competition licenses may be transferred when presented with a current physical.

COMPUTER / DATA ACQUISITION: Allowed.

STARTING LINE ENGINE CONTROL DEVICES: Allowed.

TOW VEHICLES: Allowed. Entries must stop at scales after completion of pass. A valid driver’s license is required to operate any type of tow vehicle. All passengers must be seated inside of vehicle with all doors closed. Riding in open hatchback, trunk or cargo area not allowed. ATV’s are allowed with a maximum of one passenger who must be seated at all times. Golf carts are allowed with a maximum of three passengers who must be seated at all times. Posted pit speeds must be obeyed at all times. If pit speed is not posted, maximum pit speed will be 10 mph.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT

DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SFI Spec. 16.1 certification required.

ENGINE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM: X-DRL accepted lower engine containment system(Diaper) required. Must be a minimum of 3” above ground.

FIRE SYSTEM: SFI Spec. 17.1 system required. System must contain a minimum of 10 lbs of fluid or gas fire suppression agent. System must contain a minimum of 20 lbs of fluid or gas fire suppression agent for Methanol burning Supercharged entries. One nozzle required inside driver’s compartment must be directed at driver’s feet. One or more nozzles must be directed at front of engine and fuel cell.

HEAD AND NECK RESTRAINT: SFI Spec. 38.1 required. An aluminum skid plate located above driver’s head is recommended.

HELMET: SN-2005 or newer of SFI Spec. 31.2 or 41.2 required. Use of open face helmet prohibited. EjectHelmet
Removal System (Part # SDR 890-01-30) or equivalent recommended

MASTER ELECTRICAL CUTOFF: Required. Must be clearly labeled “PUSH OFF”.

PARACHUTES: Required. Separate shroud-line mounting points with 1/2” sleeved grade 8 bolts required if using dual parachutes.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING: A driver’s suit meeting SFI Spec. 3.2A/15, gloves meeting SFI Spec. 3.3/5, shoes meeting SFI Spec. 3.3/5 required A head sock meeting SFI Spec. 3.3 is required unless a helmet manufactured with a skirt meeting SFI Spec. 3.3 is used.

ROLL BAR PADDING: SFI Spec. 45.1 required.

WINDOW NET: SFI Spec.27.1 required.

GENERAL: NHRA General Safety Regulations(Advanced E.T) and Chassis Certification Specifications apply to all entries.

The use of specially produced “one off” parts that are not commercially available and are deemed to have a performance advantage are PROHIBITED.
This includes but is not limited to Blowers, Turbos, Torque Converters, Nitrous Components, etc.

It is at the discretion of the X-DRL Technical Services Department that if a combination has a performance advantage the rules for that combination can be changed at any time to maintain parity within the class.
