The X-treme Drag Racing League (X-DRL) announced on Wednesday that one of the biggest names in the Pro Modified world will be an official contingency sponsor for the inaugural 2013 season. The new eighth-mile sanctioning body is teaming up with Pat Musi and Pat Musi Racing Engines, as the standout company will pay contingency to drivers who use Pat Musi Racing Engines during the highly-anticipated 2013 X-DRL season.

Pat-Musi“We’re excited to be working with the X-DRL in 2013. Heads-up racing is what we do, and we love being involved in that type of racing, along with the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster racing the X-DRL will feature in 2013,” Musi said. “We are all about giving racers dependable engines and we want to help the guys that run our engines in the X-DRL.”

Musi’s list of successful customers includes the likes of Rickie Smith, Robert Patrick, John Hall, Chuck Mohn, his daughter, Lizzy, and many more. Musi, who has eight championships titles racing in the Pro Street class, won’t be behind the wheel in 2013, but he has been busier than ever after recently moving his race shop to Mooresville, N.C. The new, 11,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility offers a multitude of services, giving Musi and his 40-year business a chance for even more growth.

“I’m not going to race my car, and I’m just focused on the business right now,” Musi said. “I’m going to be at the races, helping my customers, helping Lizzy and just being out there for everyone. “I just want to be at the races to help out and see everybody grow. I’m really looking forward to the 2013 season.” Musi has long embraced electronic fuel injection (EFI) and can proudly state his shop offers the fastest fuel-injected combination in drag racing.

Musi’s extensive work with EFI could also pay dividends in the X-DRL. The EFI set-up continues to grow in popularity in several X-DRL classes, including Pro Nitrous, X-treme Pro Modified, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. Musi, who has raced with EFI for the past 15 years, continues to be pleased with the development of his own EFI program and believes it could make huge progress in the sportsman categories. “It’s exciting to see the X-DRL embrace EFI. It’s a great type of engine for drivers in the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster class,” Musi said. “Chuck and Lizzy had great years racing for the first time in Top Sportsman last season and both used EFI. It gives you a lot of consistency and the motors are just incredible. We’re excited to see our fuel injection program continue to grow, especially in the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster categories.”

The X-DRL season begins April 6-7 with the X-DRL Spring Nationals at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. “It is outstanding to see Pat working with the X-DRL in 2013 and to offer contingency for the entire season. That support means a great deal to drivers and to the X-DRL, and his engines have repeatedly proven to be extremely successful in a variety of classes,” X-DRL Account Executive Keith Goolsby said.
