Drag racing legend Roy Hill will lead a stellar list of SuperCar Showdown drivers into Maryland International Raceway for this weekend’s X-DRL Mayhem at the Creek.

The SuperCar Showdown class is exclusive to X-DRL and features the latest factory-produced race cars. Regularly seen in NHRA Super Stock competition, the machines cover the quarter-mile in around nine seconds at over 140 MPH. The most successful of these factory hot rods is the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, and some of the best in the country will take to the track at MIR.

“The Cobra Jets are going to put on one heck of a show at Budds Creek,” Hill said. “Craig Hankinson and myself will be driving the Phoenix Racing Cobra Jets with backing from FireAde 2000, Mustang Club of America’s ‘Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration’, Ford Racing, Coca-Cola and Alsco. Bob Romanelli, Bo Kenney, Don Fezell and several more top-notch Cobra Jet teams will be joining us, so you don’t want to miss it.

“I’ve been going to MIR for a very long time, and the fans there have always been great. Royce Miller has done an outstanding job with the facility and the track is always well-prepared. I’m really glad to be going back to Budds Creek.”

Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School and X-DRL also teamed up to give away rides in the school’s three-seater dragster during Mayhem at the Creek. Fans “shared” posts on X-DRL’s Facebook page to be entered to win a thrilling ride down MIR’s eighth-mile, and a final ride will be auctioned off during Saturday’s eliminations with proceeds going directly to Cancer Sucks, X-DRL’s officially designated charity for 2013.

X-DRL Mayhem at the Creek invades Maryland International Raceway Friday and Saturday, July 26-27. Spectator gates open at 8 AM and qualifying starts at noon both days, with eliminations beginning Saturday at 3:30 PM. For more information, visit X-DRL.com or MIRDrag.com.
