Gaining momentum with each event, the X-Treme Drag Racing League (X-DRL) heads to Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, Illinois this weekend. Racers from across the country are eager to participate in this race, as the well-groomed racing surface and fast times it produces are major attractions.

With previous rounds at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN, and Belle Rose, Louisiana’s No Problem Raceway, competitors in each of the X-DRL’s nine classes are ready to battle it out once again. Pro X-Treme, the quickest and fastest doorslammer class in the world, saw Lethal Acceleration teammates Brandon Pesz and Todd Martin advance to 1-2 in the points, with Pesz leading by only a scant three. In Pro-Nitrous, where nitrous oxide-assisted 900 HP motors light ‘em up, Jeff Naiser has one event win and a 96-point advantage over 2nd place Jim Laurita.

In the naturally-aspirated X-Treme Pro Stock class, for drivers John DeFlorian, Jr. and Dean Goforth, each with one victory this season, it’s a race to see who will score their second win first, with the rest of the field eager to claim the first ‘X’ of their own in this, the X-DRL’s inaugural season.

3,000 horses are what’s on tap in the new Pro Turbo category, with Todd Moyer the first of any Pro driver to double up this season, taking a 405 point lead over Mike Murillo. Will Moyer continue his winning ways at Gateway, or will Murillo or the other Pro Turbo runners prevent him from doing so? Weight limits have everything to do with X-Treme Pro Mod, a class where supercharged, nitrous and turbocharged cars all compete, and Kevin Rivenbark and TJ Tindle lead the group with one race win each. These are the Pro categories that will be contested at Gateway Motorsports Park, all of which are capable of ground-shaking, record shattering 1/8-mile runs.
