Goforth Ready to Debut New Camaro From Jerry Haas Race Cars at Bash on the Bayou

Even after his crash in Bristol, X-treme Pro Stock driver Dean Goforth won’t be kept down for long. The talented XPS veteran is ready for his return at the X-DRL’s Bash On The Bayou, which takes place next weekend at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La., and he will be arriving in style as well.

Goforth just took delivery of a stunning new 2013 Camaro from Jerry Haas Race Cars. The car is powered by Sonny’s Racing Engines and features Goforth’s Dean’s Casing Services logo on the side, much like his previous GXP from JHRC. The paint and stripe on the new Camaro are just as distinctive and Goforth was thrilled with the final result of his impressive new ride.

“I’m really happy with how the car turned out. It looks great and I can’t wait to get to No Problem Raceway and get behind the wheel,” Goforth said. “Hopefully it will run as good as it looks right off the trailer.”

Goforth was expected to take delivery of the new Camaro at some point during the 2013 season, but his recent mishap at Bristol sped up the process. Goforth struck the wall twice during qualifying in his GXP, but escaped injury and is now preparing for the X-DRL’s debut at No Problem Raceway.

Goforth’s son, Cary, will continue to drive his GXP from JHRC, as both drivers are prepared for the first part of the X-DRL’s X-treme Shootout.
This shootout will award Pro X-treme, Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous and X-treme Pro Stock $25,000 ($75,000 overall) and will be contested at the X-DRL’s Thunder In The Heartland on Sept. 20-21 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

To qualify for the eight-car “X-Treme Shootout,” drivers in PX, PN and XPS must be a top eight points earner at the upcoming X-DRL Bash On The Bayou (not cumulative point standings), which takes place May 17-18 at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La.

Winners of the “X-treme Shootout” in all three classes will earn $10,000 in addition to the regular purse at the event. If a driver wins both the “X-treme Shootout” and the Thunder In The Heartland event in their respective class, the X-DRL also announced it will award that driver an additional $5,000 double-up bonus. In all, a driver in PX, PN, XPS could win $21,000 should they win both the eight-car shootout and event.

As far as Dean’s new car, maintaining the orange theme was an important part of the process.

“I tried to keep the theme as close to the hugger orange Camaro I bought on Halloween in 1969,” Goforth said. “I bought that car more than 40 years ago and that’s where my fascination with the hugger orange color started. This turned out just as well and I’m really excited about that.”
