Phelps Spectacular, But Unhurt

Dan Phelps of Labadie, Missouri, a racer from the area around Gateway Motorsports Park, experienced the ride of his life in his new 2013 RaceTech Top Sportsman dragster. At 60’, the nose of Phelps’ dragster was rising, and by 330’, his car was completely vertical and out of control.

Despite crashing hard at the top end of the track, the dragster chassis maintained its integrity around Phelps, allowing him to walk away from the accident unharmed. Rushing to provide assistance, it was Phelps’ wife who required aid as she collapsed from anxiety and had to be attended to by EMT personnel. Luckily, neither driver nor his wife required any further attention.
